So I just finished my 3rd day at my new job where I am a staffing coordinator. Some observations I have made so far are:
1. There are a lot of people out of work
2. There are a lot of people out of work who pretend they want to work but then refuse to work when a job is there for them. A good example of this is (which happened all day long), is someone calling in and saying "Do you have any work today?" and then we say "Yes, we do" and then they say "Oh- I just realized I have a family emergency." I think sometimes just calling in is work enough for some of these people.
3. There are a lot of people out of work who are willing to work and are very dependable.
4. It is interesting working at a place where you come in contact on a daily basis with people that have different ethnic backgrounds, personalities and skill sets. I like to call it "little" America. It's just one big melting pot which I really enjoy.
5. Being the newbie has saved me from dealing with some very scary and weird people. I wonder how long I will be considered new?
