Stating the obvious

Why do people feel compelled to state the obvious? For example when someone says "Oh-you have a stain on your shirt" or "Your shoes are untied!" Well today I had that happen quite a few times. About 3 minutes into my drive to work today, both of my tires on my passenger side blew out when I hit something. Just for fun, let's call that something the curb. I pulled over, assessed the damage and obviously could not go much further. So I drove very slowly with my hazards on to the nearest gas station. As I was sitting in my car an older gentleman walks very slowly around my car and comes to my window. I put the window down thinking he was going to ask me if I need help or if I was ok. Instead what he says is "YOU HAVE TWO BLOWN TIRES!" Ummmm-no shit Sherlock! That is why I am in a gas station with my hazards on and a phone to my ear with a panicked look on my face. Idiot!! This proceeds to happen the whole 2 hours I had to sit there and wait for a tow truck. Apparently the day after Thanksgiving is not only a busy day for retail employee's, but also for tow truck drivers. I seriously felt like a freak show. I guess people in a big city get used to seeing a lot of weird things, but 2 blown tires on one side of a car must not be one of them. I should of just put a circus tent up and made some money with what a spectacle I was to these people. I guess it isnt all bad. I am now a proud member of AAA and have 2 shiny new tires on my car. All together, this is also called Decembers rent. So as you pass me on the road in my new home, be sure to state the obvious and remind me that looking away for a second while driving when you are tired can have a very high price tag.

Friday's with myself

Sometimes when I don't have plans with friends on a Friday night, I tend to rent myself a movie and get take out chinese for dinner. I realized tonight that this has been going on for a few years now which led me to a few conclusions:
1. I eat too much chinese food.
2. I enjoy this time alone.
Living alone, one could say that I am alone a lot and I have always enjoyed time to myself. However, there is something different about the time I spend alone on these particular Friday nights. It has a sort of comfort that is different than other times spent alone or even with friends. Maybe it's the movie that I choose or maybe I just really like chinese food. Either way, I hope to always be able to make time for some Friday's with myself.
