I'm not making this up

The following is a cover letter to a resume that was sent to me from someone applying for a position with my company. It made me laugh so hard, I had to share. I did take out the name to protect the not so innocent, but otherwise it is in its orginal form. Needless to say, she did not get the position.

My name is ( ) and I am interested in the receptionist position that you have available. I am a very outgoing and friendly person. I think that I would benifit your company. I have taked several computer classes in high school as well as college. My major is English, so my grammer and spelling is great! I have taken design and advertising courses, which it might be an added bonus. I believe that I would be a great person for this position.

Win, Lose or Draw

I had a friend visit me this weekend and I enjoy his company because he is very smart and always keeps me laughing, but he also brings out my competitive nature because he is the type that is good at everything. This guy is the type that gets a 300 score at bowling consistently (who does that?), wins golf trophies every year and is amazing at cards. He just recently won over $1500 dollars at poker. While he was here, we got ourselves into a very looooong game of Rummy. Suprisingly, I was winning the entire game. Of course I started a lot of smack talk and was enjoying my continuous success at every hand. At one time, he only had 5 points and I had 260. I figured it was a shoe in. I figured wrong. He came back with a vengeance and it came down to the last hand. I started that hand with 965 points and he had 935. With it being that close, I figured it would be a bust anyway as it would be very easy to go over 1000 at this point. Wrong again. I ended that hand with 35 and he beat me with 65, putting both of our scores at an even 1000! First of all, the chances of that happening are slim regardless but what happened next was even more so. I of course did not want to consider this a tie as I had been playing very well and wanted to WIN, so we decided to each pick a card randomly out of the deck and the highest card would be considered the winner. The end result? We both picked a 7. We had a good laugh but I of course had to surrender to the fact that yet again, he could not be beat. Oh well. I guess I will just follow the motto that it's not whether you win or lose, but how you play the game. That is until next time!

Happy Feet!

I joined an adult tap class today. I have done this before and was even in a recital in the recent years. The recital does exist on DVD but is under lock and key forever! That is of course unless I am very drunk and in need of a good laugh. Tonight was fun though and I forget how much I love dance until I do it. I guess that is one of my regrets in life, that I didnt stick to that as a child growing up and become a dancer. I have always loved it and if I do say so myself, I am pretty good. My instructor said I am a fast learner and a natural tap dancer! Then again, I am paying her. Who knows, with 30 being the new 20, maybe I still have time to fulfill my life long dream! Ok, maybe not...but I can still have fun once a week for an hour.

All in the family

A few things going on in my family:

1. My mom moved to Florida this week. Her address is on Beach Rd. How cute is that? My dad and his wife helped her move and as weird as that sounds to other people, it means a lot to me that my parents have that sort of a relationship now and I think it's great! Good luck to you mom on your new phase in life. I miss you already and feel incredibly sad (for myself), but am very happy for you. After everything you have been through, you deserve to be happy and I hope the sun and the sand will bring that for you.

2. My sister Jenny took her Actupunture boards (early) and of course PASSED! Congrats Jen! I could only wish I had your brains, stamina, ambition and positive attitude. You will forever amaze me and I am proud of you.

I miss all of you very much and can't wait to see most at Christmas time. You all make me very proud to be a part of such a great family that always pulls together whenever needed and I feel lucky and blessed. Love you all!
