How To Cook Everything!

I have decided to make a recipe out of my cook book 'How to Cook Everything' once a week! I started this tonight and made Pasta with Butter, Sage and Parmesan. Difficult? NO. What I had in my Mother Hubbard Cupboard? YES! Well besides the Sage but you were able to add in other herbs if desired and they also suggested adding peas and some minced onion. YUM! It turned out really good but I think I will have to have a dinner party every week to avoid the leftovers and I even cut this recipe in half! Oh well. I had fun and am looking forward to the meals to come!

To text or not to text

I was asked out via text message today and I am not sure how I feel about that. Is text messaging taking place of real conversation these days? I just recently got text messaging on my ridiculously old and out of style cell phone and I will admit that I enjoy the feature for the most part but I think there are certain situations that warrant a real life exchange. Call me old fashioned, but if you want to ask me out on a date it would be nice to be ASKED not sent a text message. I don't think I would have been annoyed if it was over an email but seeing that you are using a PHONE to type this message, wouldn't it just make sense to use the equipment as nature intended? Maybe this is the new way of giving a girl a note that says "Will you go with me?" Circle yes, no or maybe. I miss those days. And I miss the simplicity of just circling one of the choices I was given with no real consequences or bruised egos to worry about. Don't misunderstand me, I am all about advancements in technology but there is something to be said for the look in someones eye or smile on their face or a nice hug during what should be a sweet and sincere exchange anyway. The text message takes all of those elements out of it. I think it would be different if there was a relationship already formed between me and this person with a certain comfort level or banter that went back and forth on a regular basis but for the most part this person and I could be considered strangers except for the mutual friend we have in common. If I choose to go, this would be considered the first date but I can't seem to get over the mental image of him walking me to my door as I gingerly pull out my phone in front of him, smile sweetly and send him a text message saying "Thanks for dinner."

Good friends, good times!

I will be visiting some friends this weekend, most of whom I have known the majority of my life and I am EXCITED!! Today we were all emailing back and forth and I happen to just reread some of them and was cracking up!! I feel very lucky to have a group of friends that I grew up with and still remain close. Not only are they great comic relief but they just know me so well and that is very comforting. Stay tuned, I am sure there will be some stories to tell in the next few days. Can't wait to see you guys!

Quotable quotes

These are a few of my favorite quotes from "The Iron Lady" Margaret Thatcher. I especially like the last one!

"If you just set out to be liked, you would be prepared to compromise on anything at any time, and you would achieve nothing."

"It may be the cock that crows, but it is the hen that lays the eggs."

"I'm extraordinarily patient provided I get my own way in the end."
